Sweet As Honey

The Burnaby kitchen renovation story is one of homeowners who decided they were sticking around but needed some serious upgrades. And let’s be real, their old kitchen was not cutting it— it was dark, cramped, and just plain dysfunctional.

So, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We’re talking about a total transformation, people. But don’t just take our word for it—check out the before and after photos below. You won’t believe your eyes. Before, the kitchen was hidden away in this dark little nook. Meanwhile, all the natural light and views were hanging out in the front of the house where let’s be honest, nobody was really spending much time. So, we had a genius idea: let’s move the kitchen! That way, we could create this bright, open-concept living space with killer views.

The homeowners had a few things on their wishlist, and at the tippy-top was more natural light. Not a problem for the Spaces team—we swapped the kitchen and living space and added a window in the kitchen. The result…Instant sunshine.

But wait, there’s more. This house? It’s got a bit of a funky shape. Like, it’s wider at the front than the back, which made framing and finishing a bit tricky. Oh, and did we mention it was sloped to the left? Yeah, that required some extra TLC too. But hey, we love a challenge, and we’re pretty proud of how it all turned out.

A cozy living room with a fireplace and TV, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a warm ambiance.
